the point is that you only need 1 charger and 1 cable for ALL your devices and that you can interface the iphone to any generic speakerset, stereo, car stereo, tv or anything realy that does not need to have the apple 30pin connector, so you can go with peripherials that do the exact same thing but are way cheaper because they don't have to play apple licensing fees to use the 30pin connector.
