Olympus camera is too Noisy!!!
Video Details
Just wanted to share how noisy this camera is when taking video, if you don't use the video, the camera is good, I think. Why would Olympus produce a noisy camera, at the same time it records sound? My cell phone is a better video camera than the Olympus SZ-11. More

I guess this illustrates why it's important to do your research, then go to a store and handle a camera before you buy it. There's more to a camera than color, and they shouldn't be impulse buys. I saw a review of an SZ-12 that had as a CON that the audio was disabled when the video was in zoom. So I guess some complain when they can hear it, while some complain when they fix it so you can't hear it. Either way, Olympus can't seem to win.

Thank you for posting this... I had an Olympus Fe-210 (2007 model) and I managed to break it few weeks ago and I'm looking for a new camera... I was thinking to buy also an Olympus and I played a little with this one in the store, and I like it from the beginning, but it is 200 £ which I think it is too much... Now I don't regret that I didn't buy it... I will keep searching... Thank you once again...

when I called Olympus about it they said it should not do that but I think they all do. They offered to fix it but I could not see how they could so I sent it back to HSN because I make videos and do not want to deal with that noise. HSN took it back and I did not have to pay for shipping.

My mom got me this camera for Christmas and it does the same clicking during video playback and the zoom is extra loud. I called Olympus about this and they suggested I turn off the mic when filming video. -_- Then they suggested I pay the shipping to them to have it repaired under warranty. Needless to say it's going back to HSN.

I bought the exact same camera, also in red, from HSN as a today's special. I experience the same ticking noise that occurs during video capture and playback. It's so loud and I've tried to figure out what is causing it. I just spoke to the HSN customer service representative, and she already sent a credit through on my credit card, and is mailing me a new return label since I misplaced my receipt. I've never seen, errr, heard anything like this.

I think that clicking is from when the camera is trying to focus. I've never had a camera makes that noise while focusing before, it's very strange. Most of the cameras I had, you can hear the sound of zooming but I have to admit this one is rather loud.
