This cam would be a great cam to make a Cloverfield tribute. U know go in some abandoned houses and suddenly drop it bcs the monster made a shock wave with its foot. And if u could simulate the monster tearing the house and picking u up and dropping the cam from 4 and a half feet. So cool.
But the vid. I'd use this for those scenes and my 5d mark II for those like running scenes and the calm stuff and cleverly make a blend like transition that it looks like I've been using the DLSR.

Another great review blunty mate, you are totally right "proper" photographers wouldn't expect this from a camera nor need it, different jobs need different tools. I don't think I would bring my digital slr to a festival or to a martial arts seminar (unless I was there for work/taking photos), a camera like the PX would be a much better option.

Unless of course you spend ungodly amounts on shock absorbing kits like you see on broadcast cameras that are used in lots of nature documentaries and so on. Granted they're sometimes sacrificed for the sake of a great shot lol. Not much of a problem if you're the BBC, but Joe Shmo is unlikely to have their budget haha.

Aug 7, 2011 Blunty3000 Says:
They won't. Canons top end DLSR's and lenses are known to be "pretty tough" and "weather sealed" but with current manufacturing and materials, it's just not possible to built a DLSR that would put up with the kind of punishment units like this will take. For a start, you'd shatter the Image sensor and/or lens elements pretty quickly simply because they have much larger surface areas, making them it intrinsically more fragile to high shock force simply as a result of physics.
