Pooknottin Says:
Sorry, not impressed. Listen to Paul Elstak's Offensive Tour and anything by Kriss Damage. That is what I call hard.
metalpsychosocial043 Says:
listen to terminus cathode ray sunshine hours passed in exile and there are also some hard songs i can't remember right now
deb19921 Says:
name it The melodic four.. never forget Insomniums One for sorrow..
rockhead2245 Says:
best melodeath is arghoslent
Djentard Says:
"Those three albums are legendary, and if anyone disagrees, they're not metal." I agreed with you until that part, you sound too smart to be yet another metal elitist.
Pooknottin Says:
No, the whole genre is soft. If you can't be hard and retain melody it's a dead genre in that regard. I've heard Cannibal Corpse. It's crap.
Flokkerdude Says:
Meh, Slaughter of the Soul is pretty much where Melodeath became more simplified, not kidding, it's one of my favourite albums, but the albums prior to that by At the Gates were ALOT more progressive and technical.
braefen Says:
If you're expecting straight up hard with no melody, then you're in the wrong place. Maybe you ought to listen to Cannibal Corpse or something.
bigspillie Says:
lol, well...I used to be a biiiig In Flames fan (it was my favorite band for a loooong time), but Dark Tranquillity > In Flames. In Flames just changed their sound waaaaaaaaaaay too much and nothing's left of "melodeath" in In Flames nowadays. I'd say the best Melodeath would be DT - The Gallery, IF - The Jester Race, At The Gates - Slaughter of The Soul, Arch Enemy - ..well, can't even choose one of their albums <3 :P But in the end, it's different for every person :)
oakefaloskavliaris Says:
At the Gates may be pioneers of the melodeath sounds, but they suck/are not even listenable, Dark Tranquility have their moments of greatness, like in this album, but over time tend to get a little over-repetitive and kinda' boring...but the greatest melodeath group of them all are the mighty IN FLAMES!!! (with children of bodom, kalmah, arch enemy, scar symmetry, ensiferum, insomnium and a few others following from a close distance...)
Pooknottin Says:
So, does this group have any hard tracks? I was told this would be hard.
WhereDidItRun Says:
Well it's not pure melodic death metal. More like just swedish death metal which had other influences rather than american death. So the sound is diffrent. It's kinda lighter and more melodic but... not really a melodeath like isomnium for example.
AIC2374 Says:
Uh, so was Mikael Stanne, just as much as Anders. Think of it this way. Anders was on DT's first album (Skydancer), Mikael was on IF's first albums (Subterranean and Lunar Strain), and then they kinda switched
AlxTheLamb Says:
Actually, my thoughts exactly (regarding your melodic 3) :) These are for sure the best 3 melo-death albums ever. Unfortunately, from these 3 great bands, only DT keeps it up... Shame in flames!
EviscerationK Says:
the voice at 1:45 caught me off guard, and it felt incredible
TheGuiPB Says:
wow,now im going to dig At The Gates,In Flames and Dark Tranquility, awesome bands!
KabutoKirisaki Says:
This album is epic.
Fuelofwar77 Says:
A pioneer of generic, formulaic melodeath, actually. Meh.
DivineIntent Says:
Amon Amarth - "Versus The World"
astillabower42090 Says:
The same could be said for Mikael Stanne...
gerderman107 Says:
in flames would still be awsome if mikael stanne stayed the vocalist
Jer1cho91 Says:
it is funny how i like both IF and DT, but not Anders....:/
MoonlapseOpethian Says:
So was Mikael Stanne.
zerototalchaos Says:
SotS is badass, sure the other album's pretty good too, but SotS is a total landmark, the true pioneer of melodic death metal
Fuelofwar77 Says:
It's called accessibility. Because of such, a lot of people like them. That's why they are popular. It's merely my opinion that they are not good. And the part where you basically say "well why don't you try to make something better?" is where your argument failed.
