the only thing(s) I dont like about my S9100 is that I cannot do tethering, and no wifi/bluetooth. I do use eyefi that lets me modify that, but its limited storage on the card. So i have to take it out and empty it at points. I would also like to use wireless triggers. I havent figured out what to use for that either. I have had this since 07' and love it. I have made MUCH money using this. Weddings, events, portraits...etc. Might not be high end - but works like one.

I have the pretty old model S6000fd and nevertheless I am really satisfied with the results. It's really amazing how powerful can camera with such a small sensor be. I am sure that 9100 is even better. Great buy for people who want the best results for a lot less money.

Sounds like you're getting excellent results. But, if you do have difficulty with the room lighting, read the section in the manual on how to set the white balance on the camera. It will then correct for the room lighting (which puts an orangy tint to things).

This camera is amazing for product shots too. I shoot furniture and home furnishings for a store and use the room lighting. I just set it to aperture priority, put it on a tripod and set the 2 second delay shutter to avoid all shake. The pictures come out incredibly well with perfect exposure and great color every time!

This is a very nice all-around camera. Focus speed is the only big disadvantage against a DSLR. I have taken a DSLR and this camera to sporting events, and you can shoot fast moving subjects with this only if you can anticipate where your subject is going to be in 1 second or 2 (So you can do racing or combat sports, but it's tough to do soccer or basketball) GREAT for movies. Even the Nikon D90 has issues this one as old as it is doesn't have.

Try Topchoice Digital. Also it's only called the s9100 in the US, everywhere else it's called the s9600. If you don't mind spending a couple hundred more you should get the s100fs.

Featuring the 1/1.6-inch Super CCD HR sensor, the FinePix S9100 boasts a remarkable 9.0 effective megapixels; ultra-high-resolution images characterized by stunning detail and rich texture. The Super CCD HR offers high sensitivity with unprecedented image quality. Thanks to effective noise suppression performed by the Fujifilm's innovative RP Processor, the S9100 produces beautiful photos without tripod or flash, retaining the natural light and atmosphere of the scene. Because there's no need to change lenses, the sensor is protected from dust accumulation, a common problem that affects the quality of images captured with digital SLR cameras. With the dust-free, integrated lens construction of the FinePix S9100, you can always count on maximum image quality and never worry about sensor cleaning.
