A #1 hit for The Temptations on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 324th #1 R&B song of the Rock Era. It also hit #26 on the Top 40 charts.

How could a woman NOT be on your nuts when playing this song?
mikeeiland1 Says:
My sentiments exactly, gblueslover2. It was #40 on an American Top 40 70s rerun with Casey Kasem this morning (April 22, 2012). The show as from April 19, 1975. Not sure if these are the Funk Brothers in back. Sounds like the newer musicians Motown acquired with their move to LA around 1972.

Eddie Hazel Wrote this song.. thats amazing PFUNK!
Bamaboompa Says:
Here's the thing. I've loved Motown for almost 50 years. Temps, Tops, Aretha, Smokey --didn't know anything about Funk Bros - just loved the sound and how much better the music was recorded than most rock from the same time. Also love Otis and Al Green - but the bands just not as good. Then I saw "Standing in the Shadow..." and it made sense. I can't keep up with which FB's played on which songs. I just know what I like. IN MY OPINION - 2 best bands ever - Beatles and Funk Bros.
Invisoclam Says:

...which has always been my favourite side. Thanks for posting, mate.
Fyawnym Says:
HEY YAWL: I bought this LP in 1973 and it is still my favourite piece of vinyl ever since. Things cant get much funkier than the A-side and if you're in candle light mood, just put on the b-side. And MAAAN! These bass lines can't be beaten, can they!? Massive stuff, still.
rippersk8er Says:
Billy Bass Nelson's playing is so tasty!
WMORGAN48 Says:
Bamaboompa is correct!!! It's not the funk brothers, This is the brain work of the Late Great Eddie Hazel!!!!! and Billy Bass Nelson on bass. He also produced Bonnie Pointer's "Free me from my freedom... Which was the first time I ever heard funk played on a banjo
Rcarroll15 Says:
Eddie Hazel!!!
