yes most of the time that is easyer. but when the camera is on a tripod its much easyer to select focus point

The select AF point on the screen that this and a few other cameras now have seems a bit of a gimmick, isnt it easier and faster to set a "spot" focus point in the centre then point the spot at your desired focus point on the subject, recompose and shoot
