The new Canon S100 is the one I would compare with the LX5. Panasonic makes great cameras. I just like Canon's interface and sensors more than Panasonic. The LX5 would be a fine camera. It's one I would recommend.....but not over the Canon S100.
mercimeek Says:
What do you think, this is better or the "Panasonic DMC-LX5"?
nate42nd Says:
The Sony IS a good camera but I would still get the Canon. I would get the newer Canon S100 however.

What do you think, this is better or the "Sony WX10"?

How much money is this Canon S95 camera in most stores?
nate42nd Says:
I think the S95 is better. I have not studied the Nikon but the Canon S95 has better hardware.

I was thinking about getting a NikonS8100 but now I am considering this camera. Which do you think is better?
nate42nd Says:
The LDC is a little exposed on the S95. I have had to clean mine quite a bit but it's well made. It cleans up very well if you use micro fiber cloth and I use Zeiss lens cleaner (a small amount) I don't know if that's what I'm supposed to use but it works great.

the 1st thing i'll do is to get a screen protector for the lcd. lol. it seems if i lay it down on a flat surface with the lcd side down it'd probably scratch the screen.

Thanks. I use a light I got with a light tent kit. It came with a "daylight" bulb. It works good. I actually use two in most videos. Good luck.

Nate, thanks for your sharing your opinions on the 7D and Canon S95 - I now have both-thanks to you! And I love them both!!! I can't believe how awesome the S95 is - love the ability to adjust controls on such a compact camera. Can I assume that you're using the 7D to take this video? What settings? What kind of tripod do you use and what kind of lighting or lights? This video quality is amazing, and very informative. Thanks again!

ok great, you're right, it has loosened up so I can use it now (after a good 10 mins of turning it round and round :P), but it's still tight enough to not turn on its own.
nate42nd Says:
Mine feels about right. Not too tight or loose in my opinion. Good luck with yours. It's better to have it tight. It will probably loosen with use if you use it often.
JcnoProductions Says:
I just bought an S95, it's an incredible camera, but is the mode dial on yours incredibly stiff to turn, or is mine just defective?
nate42nd Says:
Best of luck to you. It's a good choice. Now that I have used it for 4 months I still think it's one of the best small compacts and now it's 40 dollars less!

This is a great review, I was holding out for the Nikon P300 but think ill just go for this.
