@lgpk950
My friend has a Samsung PNC8000 series plasma and ya know, they say that thing is hard to beat in terms of overall quality and features.
Mar 4, 2011 OtomoTenzi Says:
@fehersolyom
Set everything in the picture adjustment menu at 50% or less and just let it run full screen material (no black bars or static logos) continuosly for like several hours each day for at least a whole month.
During this time, try to avoid playing videogames on it that will display stationary objects on the screen like life meters and ammo counters.
After like the first 150-200 hours of break-in time, you should be good.
Mar 4, 2011 OtomoTenzi Says:
LG plasmas are not gonna be any good if you're planning on watching TV in a bright room, due to their ultra-glossy screens and poor anti-reflective properties... : P
Also, keep in mind that rechargeable 3D glasses are probably not gonna be nearly as good as the battery-operated ones in the long run; especially when they start failing or losing their ability to hold a good charge.
I would very strongly highly recommend either the Panasonics or Samsung's lineup of 3D plasmas over these LGs.

@kenjuma pioneer sold to panasonic and pioneer wasnt exactly thin soo i guess in order to get the technology to fit the make the tv bigger. And also kuro was aimed at people hu cared bout picture quality and not so much about how it looks in there house (i have one of each and an LG (very thin) but if i put them all next to each other, the LG is very shit (it cost £1500 so it wasnt exactly bad) but pioneer is the best but i only use it to play games and watch movies other wise i use panasonic.
Dec 24, 2010 kenjuma Says:
Check 2:30 for it's thinness. Plasma's càn too be thin. Why doesn't Panasonic have these, makes you wonder....
Oct 8, 2010 fehersolyom Says:
do you need to break-in the tv? if yes, how do you do that? low brightness, contrast? solid pictures in different color to stress pixels equally? how?
Sep 30, 2010 MysticTrunksHQ Says:
I'm also considering LED, and quattron technology is taking off and actually looks incredible. Visit a local tv store to see for yourself.
Sep 29, 2010 lgpk950 Says:
Yeah, it's nice how plasma can deliver a good picture at all those different angles. You don't have to sit right in front of the tube to see it the way it was meant to be seen. However to be fair, the pk950's picture is said to get a little blue-ish with near black colors and it's yellow and cyan are said to be a little off too.
Sep 29, 2010 lgpk950 Says:
As far as the Panasonic G25 ( amazon.com/dp/B00392147E/?tag=248739-20 ), unfortunately, it's been said that it does not handle 1080p sources correctly. So your blue-ray experience may be less that would you would get with the pk950. However, as a PRO on the G25, it's been said that it delivers better black levels than the pk950. The g25 also is said to have a very good anti-reflective screen.
Sep 29, 2010 lgpk950 Says:
Well, there's some preference involved here. The lg pk950 has been said to be the best performing plasma this year. The advantage of plasma being that the picture doesn't fade when you stand at an angle. In regard to blue ray, the lgpk950 is also supposed to handle them correctly at 1080p. So you should get a good picture, both for movies as well as games I'd imagine.
Sep 18, 2010 masteryummy Says:
I'm thinking of either getting either the LG 60PK950, Panasonic G25 "54 or Samsung PN58C6500. Which would you recommend?
I play video games (Xbox 360) and watch blu-rays and DVDs.
Sep 17, 2010 MysticTrunksHQ Says:
I'm moving out of my parents next year, I do own a late 2009/early 2010 Sharp Aquos 60" LCD, but I'm a movie person. During the Day my LCD has incredible blacks, but at night you notice the backlighting. While still a high end tv(it should be..it was over 3000 dollars!) But I prefer Plasma as I am a Movie going guy.
Sep 8, 2010 humewood1 Says:
fair enough doesnt sound to much of an issue then. thanks for answering all questions i really appreciate it.
Sep 7, 2010 lgpk950 Says:
PS All plasma TV's exhibit some level of IR, even the Panasonic G series, which has been rated least susceptible, has been found to exhibit some IR after 2hr of static bright images. Static bright images are one of the biggest causes of IR, especially during the first 200 hours of use when the phosphors burn more intensely. By correctly calibrating your TV and keeping the brightness and contrast at a reasonably low level, the lg pk950 should perform fine.
Sep 7, 2010 lgpk950 Says:
On Image Retention (IR) this LG tends to under perform other plasma TVs in this area. IR is considered to be only a minor issue because in a huge majority of cases the retained image is temporary and quickly disappears on its own. You can also the use LG 'Color Wash' and LG 'White Wash' features to clear the screen. IR is mainly only a problem when you fail to activate the pixel orbiter when showing bright images. Turn down the brightness & contrast to protect your TV while it's new.
Sep 7, 2010 humewood1 Says:
thanks for the speedy reply, thats all good to know thanks for clearing up those issues, i actually prefer the colour tone's on the lg's over panasonic(reds appear to orangy), on the image retention issue, i read somewhere that these are becoming less of a problem nowadays, how much of a problem is it on this set? last thing i want is a logo peice of text etc being permenantly there as would hinder viewing pleasure, and feel is unaceptable when paying £1000+ of ones hard earned cash.
Sep 6, 2010 lgpk950 Says:
PS, Although the PK950 does still have some image retention issues. But again in regards to response times and phosphor trailing, the general consensus here is very positive. In fact it's been said that the PK950 is actually beating the Panasonic G20 in regards to phosphor trailing.
Sep 6, 2010 lgpk950 Says:
Well for starters, unlike a lot of other plasmas, this one actually handles 1080p/24 Blue-ray correctly. Your XBox360 should be fine. The PK950 has a 600Hz Sub-field Driving which improves picture response time and clarity by means of a 10 sub-field per frame driving process. Word on the street is that it has better response time and less phosphor trailing than the Panasonic G25/G20.
Sep 6, 2010 humewood1 Says:
thinking of getting this how does it run with xbox360 and bluray, any IR or input lag, phosphor trailing.?
